Bought a $45 service card for my Straight Talk phone at Wal-Mart. Went to scratch off my PIN on the back of the card and the numbers blurred and rubbed out, making about 1/3 of the PIN illegible.

To get this fixed, they want me to fax them info on my phone, the receipt of purchase, and a picture of the card to them, and wait 72 hours, thus shutting off my phone in the meantime. This effectively penalizes me fot purchasing a product that was obviously not printed correctly before I bought it.

"But," you might be thinking, "that's so they can prove you're the one who bought it!" That makes no sense though, because they have already declared themselves not responsible for lost cards. All they should need is what I can see of the PIN and the serial number.

Monetary Loss: $45.

Location: Monroe, Michigan

I have been trying for over a week to get an answer from straight talk and hoping this site will help me. I purchased a service card after my phone was stolen in order to activate my new phone.

The pin code was illegible so I went on line and enrolled in a service plan.

I tried taking it back to Wal-Mart but they refused to refund me even with a receipt. What can be done to get refunded?

Strait talk is missing a huge point in this whole ordeal. Some of us use prepay phones for security reasons, in fact that is the single most important factor and the only reason we even use strait talk.

Why would the require anyone to send them their name...EVER?!? considering they never got my name in any transaction ever, how would they even use this to help verify anything anyway?

Hello,

I work in Walmart's wireless department, and here's a little tip if that ever happens again: save your receipt, and we will gladly exchange out the card for you. The cards themselves say that they can't be refunded or exchanged, but that really only applies once the airtime is added to the phone.

Once used, it's out of our hands. But if it's something like your situation, we can help...just don't discard your receipt.

This happens more often than you may think. :) Screw Straight Talk and their "fax all this stuff in" nonsense.

I tried that and they refused.....even when presenting them with a receipt. They were rude and said that I should have scratched in order to see the pin number but the card I bought was a peel off.

Nothing in fine print about scratching was on the card. This is so frustrating!

Sending you a name defeats the whole point many of us have for using a prepay service to begin with. Not to mention, up to this point, my name has never been used in association with this phone so... how could it be used to help verify anything?!?
