Tracfone/Straighttalk Unlocking Policy
The Tracfone/Straighttalk unlocking policy states.. ( Customers must request phone unlocking.
Straight Talk will unlock phones of current and former Straight Talk customers without charge. Non-former customers may request unlocking, but Straight Talk may charge a reasonable fee). I was told by customer service that is says they may if they want to , BUT THEY DONT WANT TO. I am still upset about tracfone/ straight talk unlocking policy..
They are tip toeing around the 2014 law requiring unlocking. They only unlock after you use the phone with them for 12 months.
Basicly after it is worn out. I have complained to the FCC and criticized them for agreeing to let tracfone skirt the law and not accomplish what the law was intended for.
Preferred solution: Change policy to unlock for non customers

Same here! I've had straight talk on and off for a good 10 years never having much of a problem until about 3 or 4 months ago the service SUCKS!
I have the unlimited plan, just renewed yesterday and it barely works at all. Pages either take FOREVER to load or don't work at all. I went in that stupid chat thing they have on their site to talk to an "agent" and she kept asking for my address. First off straight talk, it's none of your business what my address is!
Second, what the heck does my address have to do with your waste of my time and money crap service?! I've had the same address for years so my location is not the reason.
She told me without my address she wouldn't help me. What a scam I'm switching carriers!

Disappearing data
December 24. Crossed the border to the US.
Expected to have an active straight talk plan since I purchased a 60 day plan late october. Called straight talk. They claimed my plan expired and that it was only a 30 day plan. They sold me a new plan for 4 GB.
For days later, the mobile hub stopped providing internet connectivity. Had to wait to december 28 to call technical support from a Lowed Hardware wifi zone. Was transfered 5 times. Each rep said I had 2.07 GB remaining.
Fifth rep asked m for my curent zip code and propagated my 2.07 GB entitlement to other servers. She said it was a problem that some servers thought I had 0 GB entitlement and others thought I had 2.07GB. Phone call took over an hour. I thanked her, hopped in the RV, turned off the hot spot and drove to the next Hotel.
Half way there i turned on the hot spot and once agian had no internet access. I needed internet access so I purchased 2 $90 plans form my Canadian Cell phone company. I waited to January 4 to Call straght talk. The claimed I had used all my data.
They admitted there were problems on December 28 but said all the problems were fixed. I pointed out that the second time I lost my data it also happened on December 28 when tye were having problems. Talked to 3 different reps including a manager. Wasted an hour of my time.
Thye insisted that their system had to be right and that I had used all of my data. I asked them to give me just one web site that I had visited after my December 28 support call. They said they ahd no detailed records, just that I had zero remainintg and that I had used 4GB. I asked them to verify that I had 2.07 gigabytes on December 28.
They said trhere was no way for them to go back in time and that they only had the one number to work off of. Basically they have no logs, They are running blind. Their servers have inconsistent and incorrect data that does not propagate across zip codes or states. Technical support usually involves 20 to 40 minutes of hold time and 3 to 5 transfers.
I see lots of complaints about this company.
An ethical company would have admitted that thier systems are flawed and would have reapplied the missing data. The reps are poorly trained except in the skill of transferring to another agent.

Order cancelled 2 times.
My company is closing its doors and my phone will be turned off as of the 20th or April 2018 I placed an order on the 16th they took the money from the card. I go back and check to see when it was coming.
I see in the upper corner it says cancelled. So I go online to talk to the person in the chat. They looked up my order number and he told me the order was placed in 2015. I was like HUH?
Anyhow he tells me to re-order so I did and I wait and it clears smartpay etc etc. I go to look at the order today and it too was cancelled. So I call them and sit on the phone for 10 minutes waiting out the elevator music. Finally get a live person on line.
I give the lady my information and all of a sudden "I CANT BE HEARD" The first 10 minutes of the call no problem I guess when its quitting time there they just act like they lose you on the phone.
Screw this Im going another route. Anything has to be better than this crap.

Overseas call center is TOTALLY USELESS and a bunch of IDIOTS!! I was double billed back in September and numerous phone calls have been useless!
The reps are hard to understand, clueless and rude! I thought DirecTV had the worse customer service, but ST is 100 times worse!
It is too bad, because the cell service is great ( as long you don’t have to contact them for something!) Sent letters to Corporate in Miami and was contacted by the same USELESS *** overseas! They cannot (or will not correct a simple billing issue)
Overcharged by straight talk
My husband and i both use straight talk . It is set up as an automated payment each mth.
It has been 43.98 ea for years until this mth it went up to 45.41, no big deal until i check my acct on 12/11/17 and see 5 pending charges instead of 2. I contacted straight talk and they denied charging 5x, said they only charged 2x. Now i am having to file a dispute with my bank to try and get the money refunded to my acct.
I also noticed on my bank statement that 1 charge is straight talk services, the other 4 charges say straight talk airtime. Confused and pissed!

This is the worse service ever!!! This company can never seem to do the simple things that they are asked to do.
I brought a iPhone for my son for Christmas who lives in another states, yes my son is under another plan but straight talk is connected to his plan. The only thing that straight talk has to do is unlock the phone so that I can transfer the phone over to him. Every time I call they disconnect me or hang up. I called a total of 8 times last night if not more and the same exact thing kept happening.
This company has no professionalism, they are rude and unkind.
Of course it was right at 8pm and it was new years day and the phone calls were transferred oversea somewhere. I am returning the phone and they do not ever have to worry about me recommending their services to anyone!!!!!

Cant renew service and cant get refund
I tried getting into my account to pay next months bill and couldnt find my phone on dashboard. So tried everything i could think of to try to link my phone with my account.
Couldnt get it. So tried tech support. They said its a problem with my email but he can fix it and he sent me a new password. It said invalid password.
Strike 1. Got ahold of him again so he resent me a new password to get into my account and then when i tried it and again invalid password. Strike 2. He dropped my chat so thought give straight talk 1 last chance.
Different person this time a woman. I told her the problems and she said no problem she can help. She sent me a 3rd email with password change. I asked her to hold well i checked it and sure enough invaid password.
This time i sent her the password and said now you try. She couldnt get in either. So she wanted me to set up a new email address. Im not setting up a new email just for a phone.
It shouldnt be this hard. So that was strike 3. Im done. I asked about getting my money back for the useless phone they sold me.
She said yes i can help you with that. She gave me a number and a pin so i could get a refund. The number she gave me was a totally different dept. Wtf.
Couldnt even get that right. They put me on hold for 20 min. I give up. Glad it was just 1 phone was going to switch the whole family over.
No way now. I had 1 years ago. Had it for years. Even told friends about it.
Thats done now. Will tell everyone to stay away.

Unlocking straight talk phone
I purchased a straight talk phone and and wanted it unlocked. I called and was transferred to the unlock department, then customer service back and forth several times and ended up being transferred to a recording of their unlock policy.
The large cell phone providers are complying to the 2014 law regarding unlocking however straight talk has imposed several guidelines set forth to keep most people from unlocking. I encourage anyone who has problems with straight talk wireless to file complaint with FCC at this link https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=39744.
The FCC has let them impose more restrictions on unlocking than the law intended and more than any of the other providers. FCC needs to know you dont agree.

Prepaid on my account with Straight Talk on 12/18/17 and changed providers on 12/20/17 after finding another provider. They would not give a penny of a refund.
Said b/c it was not a working phone. Well it is working on my end. Also, the people who man their phones are from some other country and can't hardly communicate the English language. At least at Consumer Cellular their is no language barrier.
They are in the U.S, and much cheaper. I will be filing a complaint with my bank and the BBB against Straight Talk. Why are U.S. companies always trying to steal.
The public must not let them get away with it. Another greedy corporation. They will soon be getting a 14% tax break by Trump, the Congress, and his cronies and they still are stealing. Greedy RICH.
That is our country. Don't you love it!

I purchased a straight talk phone from Walmart last month. We tried to just get it unlocked.
They said no very rudely. So today I buy their plan because the lady said it would work (the lady from straight talk) Went to active the phone the guy says oh no it will not work in your area. WTH? I just spent $35.00 plus tax for a card that's non refundable.
I want my money back straight talk! My lawyer friend said a reputable company would refund it because customer service told me to buy the card.
